The Beginning of Forever
Lucifer landed firmly on his feet, he tucked his wings neatly behind
him, entering through The Gates. He immediately saw Gabriel.
"Hello friend," Gabriel said.
"What?" Lucifer snapped
"He's ready"
"Really?" A smirked opened on Lucifer's face. "I've been waiting a
long time for this.
"I really should advise against it, friend."
"Well Gabriel, I feel that it needs to be said.
"Very well Lucifer," Gabriel said as he reached out and placed his
right hand over Lucifer's heart, as this is how they embrace. "Peace be
with you."
"And also with you, friend," Lucifer said, placing his hand to
Gabriel's heart. Lucifer continued to his destination. He walked to a
large wooden door, and at the door was a cherub named Grant.
"Peace be with you," Lucifer said, embracing Grant.
"And also with you," Grant replied, returning the embrace. "He's been
expecting you Lucifer." Grant had a broad smile on his face, almost
mischievous, but he always smiled like that.
"Well, no sense in keeping Him waiting longer." Lucifer headed for the
door but stopped. "Oh, I heard there is a new way to enter."
Grant nodded. "Knock, and the door shall be opened."
Lucifer was about to knock when he heard laughter. Lucifer turned his
head to see Heather, Eden, Aaron, and Lynn congregating near the door.
They were Watchers as well as a new edition to the angels in the
Kingdom. They were created for something new God had planned. Lucifer
new nothing of these plans of His, nor did he care. Lucifer briefly
lost his train of though and tried to open the door, which he could
not.
"Knock, Lucifer," Grant said in a soothing voice. "And the door shall
be opened."
Lucifer looked down at his feet, closed his eyes and shook his head.
Too many changes, he thought. Lucifer knocked and the door slowly
creaked open. As he made his way through the door the Light of God
shone so brightly it hurt Lucifer's eyes for a brief moment. It always
did. The luminous light brought an instant peace and holiness to anyone
in its presence; Lucifer was also used to this feeling and shunned it
as if it were nothing. Lucifer's knees hit the ground.
"Peace be with you, my servant," The Lord proclaimed in a soft yet
surrounding voice.
"And also with You, my Lord."
"What has brought you here, My other servants have told Me you have
much concern."
"Yes, I do Lord. I have some&;#8230;disagreements."
"With whom?" The Lord quickly asked.
"With You," Lucifer replied with much hesitation.
"Lucifer, my greatest servant, how is it that you question The Lord
your God?!" There was boldness in the Lord's voice that Lucifer
noticed. Not anger, perhaps shock.
"Lord," Lucifer said, bravely standing to his feet and facing his eyes
directly towards The Lord. Lucifer steadily kept a stern look on his
face. "I am here because I feel we should be able to make decisions.
You created us, for what? To serve you!" Lucifer noticed his voice
booming. He cleared his throat and lowered his tone. "I feel that we
should be more than servants. We should more say on changes and
reconstruction in The Kingdom. More power."
This struck a nerve with the Lord. The Light of God grew slightly dim,
as it did when the Lord grew angry. Few angels had ever seen this.
Lucifer felt deeply saddened and pained by the Lord's mood, but quickly
shook it off. He was, however, relieved when the Lord quickly changed
back to bright.
"Lucifer, you have so much power now. You are my highest-ranking
angel. You are my advisor, Lucifer." The Lord spoke in a honeyed voice
that would make any angel fall face down for His mercy. Lucifer felt
the slightest inkling of this, but again, shook the feeling as if it
were nothing. Lucifer refused to feel His grace.
"I am serious Lord, I want more."
"Who are you to demand, Lucifer?" The Lord's voice made Lucifer
slightly jolt, but he tried not to show it. "You are my servant. Here
Lucifer, eat, you will feel better."
An array of fruits appeared before him.
"I will not eat of Your kindness, patience, or self control." Lucifer
swept his hand and the fruits whisked, on their own, to the far left of
him.
A beautiful woman, with long wavy brown hair stepped out of the light.
She approached Lucifer and embraced him by placing Her hand over his
heart. "Peace Lucifer, be at peace," She said ever so sweetly.
Lucifer did not return Her embrace. Instead he closed his eyes and
tried to force the awesome presence of his Lord away. Lucifer's jaw
slightly dropped, as his eyes remained closed and his knees quivered.
He drew himself together and opened his eyes. "So," he said to Her as
She held Her embrace. "You have come as The Voice of Reason. I don't
need your reasoning! Why won't you listen to me? I need power! That's
what I crave, Lord! Just let me have it!"
"Peace Lucifer," She said, continuing to hold Her embrace. "I love you
my loyal and faithful servant. Do not betray me."
"Betray you! Who are these Angels You have created to replace
me?"
"They are here to help you-"
"I don't need any help."
"Lucifer, peace," She repeated. Again, the Fruit of Peace appeared in
the Lord's free hand. "Eat."
"No. I will not!"
"Lucifer, you are My servant."
"Then I will not serve You!" Lucifer slapped the Fruit out of the
Lord's hand.
She finally released Her embrace, began to shake Her head, and
dissolved.
Lucifer had never seen such a thing. She was supposed to step back into
The Light of God. Before She had completely dissolved, The Light turned
anger gray.
Then, without warning, Yahweh stepped out of The Light. He was a giant
mighty man. He had long straight gray hair waving from His head and
face; His eyes were wide and full of power. He walked straight towards
Lucifer at a brisk pace. He only took about six of seven steps when He
thrust His right hand up as if conducting an angelic orchestra.
Lucifer, unwillingly, flew straight up, off the ground. Then Yahweh
pulled His hand slightly toward Him and Lucifer flew directly into His
mighty fist.
"So this is what it comes to my servant, my advisor. You talk with me;
I turn to you to listen to my ideas. Now you think you can deify your
Lord!" The Lord's booming voice left a tingle in Lucifer's ears. He
tried not to be afraid, but couldn't help but tremble in the clutches
of The Almighty God, as he dangled from His closed fist like a rag
doll. The Lord sensed his fear. "Are you afraid, Lucifer?"
"I will not serve you," he repeated in a mellow tone, spacing each
word.
"Is this what I should expect from all my servants? I give them a
choice and the choose to deify me!"
"A few agree with me-"
"Who?!" The Lord demanded, drawing Lucifer closer. "Whom of my faithful
servants have you forcefully planted your evil seed?"
"Ariel, Gregory, Lucas." Lucifer fiendishly smiled as he answered.
"Markdale, and Jonathan."
The Lord thrust Lucifer backwards. Lucifer bellowed as he soared
through the air. He landed hard, disoriented, and far away from The
Lord.
"I created you Lucifer and I will destroy you."
Lucifer rose to his feet and scratched his mass of curly blonde hair.
He looked down and noticed a group of feathers, from his wings, had
collected on the ground near his feet. Before Lucifer could ask the
question, The Lord had answered.
"Slowly, you will lose your wings." His tone had returned to normal. He
still stood in the form of Yahweh. "Before then, you must gather as
many angels as you can. You must convince them that you match the Power
of God."
Lucifer stood in front of The Lord with nothing to say. For the first
time in his existence, Lucifer felt the absence of The Lord, and it
pained him.
"Heaven beside you, Lucifer." The Lord's voice shook even The Light
that was He. "I have a place for you Lucifer, Heaven beside you for all
of eternity." Lucifer didn't know it yet, but it was the beginning of
his forever.
