Catholic Schoolgirl Eyepatch Mode of Self-Preservation

Cornered now in the rancid clutch of
undesired offspring;
Coiled under steel sheets & praying for a
termite rain
Stabbed in the back by friends I never knew I had
& conned out of decency’s final, faded shred
by the holiest of liars
& his nostalgic alchemy--
Busy seducing the last vestiges of enlightenment from the
pantomimic frontier
As mimeographed horror-shows
whip reality into shapes fit for a comic book hall of fame,
Modulated entirely through former immortals
baffled out of all sense & spare change;
Borrowing flesh from the Christ
& Christ from the flesh,
& lusting after the Crown of Thorns as if ordained
by the mental terrorists they most
closely resemble
