Reversing

It was a sunny day at the seaside and the bay was packed with visitors. Ice-cream parlours were doing a roaring trade, while in the bay itself a procession of sailing yachts, pleasure craft and jet skis entertained those watching from the cliffs.
A number of popular oak benches had been placed along the esplanade and these were full. Many of the observers trained binoculars on a visiting warship and others looked up as a mighty whoosh heralded the arrival of an acrobatic aircraft team. A fearful crunch followed, as arthritic necks extended to the sky.
Then one old couple stood up.
With red faces and a Herculean effort they heaved the heavy oak bench around and began watching the people that surrounded them...
