On Bended Knee

On bended knee, I covered your wound
With a shining coloured plastic, exhibiting cartoons,
I groomed your hair and fastened your shoes
I wiped your tears and chased away gloom.
I accomplished all of these things,
And all were completed on bended knee,
Leaning down, I buttoned your cloak
Secured a scarf around your neck.
On your head, placed a hat
I gathered in your shirt,
And fastened your belt
You're growing so rapidly, sadness is felt.
All of these things I perform with a frown
It's then I understand there is no need to bend down,
Rising before me, I roll up your sleeves
You jump on your bike and journey where you please.
I give you some cash, as you run out the door,
You turn and embrace me, to even the score.
You realise that I adore you, I long that you can see
With a tear in my eye, as you stand before me.
