Wanton Wanting

My lotus eating fantasies that fire my body but shirk the possibilities of flesh and blood
I want not.
My ragged boys and girls inside, my buried pain, my wounded pride
I want not.
My festering envy, squandered time, my vicious circles traintrack rhyme repeats
I want not.
My impulse self-destructive binge, my swaggering cringe of the too-often beaten who still fears defeat
I want not.
And when my want-nots fall away
My wantings easier to say
I want each colour sharp and bright
I want each song the notes hit right
I want each heartbeat, sight and breathing
I want soft touch on skin, sweet loving feeling
And when my want-nots fall away
My wantings easier to say.

Desired wants required to
Desired wants required to make for a happier life is how I read this poem elsie. I like how you want to discard all the undesired despair.
A thoughtful piece of writing.

Thoughtful, Elsie, and honest
Thoughtful, Elsie, and honest, and something very sweet and lovely about the desires, and I guess that's what you 'd like others to have too. Rhiannon
