The World Today

Take a look at society,
And what do we see?
The ideal kind of person
That we're all supposed to be.
To have the shape of a model,
To look like a star,
It's the fashionable clothing,
That makes you who you are.

In the papers we see injustice and hate,
Murders and slanders,
Burglary and rape.
Blinded by ignorance, some people can't see;
The truth behind the lies and what they might be.

People passing judgement before they even know,
The truth behind appearances,
Or the moral to the 'show'.

Faces full of anger, you can see it in their eyes
People locked in darkness, trying to break the ties.

Looking in the mirror, we see our world today.
Looking forward to the future,
Will we live a different way?
