Being there to guide her on her way.
Being there watching her first steps her first smile.
Being there the first time she calls you mummy.
Being there on her very first day of school.
Being there when she falls, to kiss that hurt away.
Being there when she is poorly, giving her my loving arms.
Being there to share in her excitement.
Being there to share in her disappointments.
Being there when she is happy, and when she is sad.
Being there to wipe away those tears.
Being there to help her through her first broken heart.
Being there when she becomes the beautiful bride.
Being there to see her cradle her first new born.
Being there for everything she goes through in life.
Just to be there.
Just to be the best of friends.
Being there I never was.
I never got to see all of those things.
I never got to be there.
This is my sadness for letting you go.
This is the price I had to pay for letting go.
For all those missing years.
For those important missing years.
But in my heart you were forever there.
I never let go.
And in my private thoughts your life I saw.
