Insurance

In the courthouse near the river a man and a woman were fighting for
their lives against an obstinate insurance company representative who
insisted, along with his lawyer, that the law clearly supported their
insistence. That is, the insurance company could not possibly be
responsible to comply with the claims of the couple because the company
had never heard there was a claim to comply with. The exasperated
couple tried in vain to explain that the reason the insurance company
had turned a deaf ear to them was because the company did not have a
public phone number and though they had made numerous attempts to write
letters and emails in place of the more convenient call they never
received more than a form letter in return. A simple denial of
coverage. The couple submitted copies of all the letters and of all the
proper forms for such a claim and substantiated their case with medical
records and payments made and showed a chart indicating that all
deadlines for forms or payments had been met. The insurance company
representative did not say a word to this accusation but simply looked
up at the judge. The judge glanced down at the papers in front of her
and put on an expression of complete and thus false indifference.
