An angel's fall from Grace

I heard that if you reach up high
You can find the place where angels lie,
But like a stone thrown from afar
I fell to Earth, a falling star.

I lay there, silent, upon the ground,
Shocked by the dullness i had again found.
Friends took me home and let me sleep,
To dream of angels who now weep

Because I am gone and did not stay,
Why had I fallen? Why had I gone away?
I tried to reach them, answer their call,
But every time I found I'd fall.

My friends told me gently 'you cannot fly',
But I knew somehow I'd touched the sky
And never again would Earth suffice
Compared to my angels' paradise.
