Waiting for Departure
Cold morning metal, stationary,
soon to be moving, past
the first trickle of commuters
flowing into the station,
swift-moving shoes and suits
flooding past the casual stream
of students and long distance travellers
all still a dream
tannoy echoing in the emptiness,
round the lone businessman
checking his watch again,
drawn to an opening stall
by the warm promise
of croissants
and freshly ground coffee.
