Oyster And The Pearl

Part 1 - The Pearl
It's something you dare tell no one
Not one soul may you dare tell
For once it's out it's like the pearl
Prised from its broken shell.
One lover with a whisper
In the other's shell-like ear
Those words and vows for she alone
No other soul to hear.
A pearl of wisdom if it's kept
And treasured as you should
Not dripping from a broken string
Ripped off in tantrum mood.
One pearl is what I give to you
And now you know for why
Each time you choose to look on it
Know I love you till I die
But also please remember
That our love's a secret life
And for Heaven's sake tell no-one
ESPECIALLY the wife!
Part 2 - The Oyster
It really was a lovely verse
And such a dainty ring
I'd no idea that you could write
Such a marvellous clever thing.
To discover how you really feel
Was revelation, true to me
And everytime I wear your pearl
The secret's plain to see.
But by the time you've swallowed
That last oyster from your plate,
You'll realise your time has come
You won't have long to wait
Your deception with some nameless miss
Has made your own words true
You loved me 'till your dying day
I found out - now you're through.
There seems no point in adding more
Except I'd like to say -
If you hadn't penned that stupid rhyme
You'd be alive to-day.
