chrysalis
please would you hush
put an end to this
clutter of hate,
release me from your clutch.
I have waited,
tucked up like a bud,
a ravel of hopes and wants;
give to me my Spring.
I have filled the night
to overflowing
with my secrets,
I unpeel this sleep in strips.
My eyes are full of shadow
but i have sewn the light
of a brazen sun into my skin:
I blaze and burn.
Still the voices
of blank, soulless words,
let the wind inhale me
(I shall leave only a dusting
of my colour behind)
Be quiet now as I spread my wings.
