Behind-your-back-stabbers

When you're young, you like a good bit of praise, a compliment. So
do I. I like my friends telling me if I look a bit mad. I'd rather they
told me, rather than be laughed at by strangers.
Behind-your-back-stabbers don't get that.
They'll suck up to you, tell you you're great. They'll be popular,
yeah, but they'll lie. They won't have the guts to come out of their
shell, and tell you, straight, what's wrong. They'll whisper behind
your back, and shoo you away, and then when they do come out, they have
nothing much to say.
When they're young, they're popular, everybody likes 'em, except me.
I'm wound up by their secret bullying, their sucking up. So now that
we're older, me honest in a nice way, them spewing lies, I'm popular,
I'm liked. Where are they? Down the gutter.
