MONEY EATERS - I

Naren was speeding his car through the highway. The music player was playing one of his favourite songs.

Naren sang along with it so that he could get over his nervousness. He tried to whistle the song, but his mind was not willing to divert anywhere else. He was feeling cold. He switched off the AC in his car, as it added fuel to his burning nervousness.

He stopped the vehicle at the side and took his bag lying on his rear seat. Naren took something from it and started to scribble something with his parker. He stopped suddenly. “I’ll finish it off later” thought Naren and continued with his journey.

He drove for the next 20 minutes, when he saw his friend, Anand selling cucumbers at the corner. Naren slowed down near him and pressed his window open.

“Hey sir, looks like you’re on your way” Anand said handing over some cucumbers to Naren.

“Yup, thank you, wish me luck” Naren said paying 200 bucks. “And keep the change, as usual” Naren added. “Thank you and best of luck, Sir” Anand said when Naren took leave.

Naren reached his top gear in no time and was speeding when he suddenly noticed something happen to his front pair of wheels. It was a puncture. Naren suddenly lost control and applied brakes when his vehicle tumbled violently and hit the ground upside down.

Naren was hit badly by his jaw. He needed help. He searched for his cell phone but he couldn’t find it. It was dark in the night and there was none to notice him. Anand was the only one he knew in this circle. But he was quite a distance away. Naren was helpless.

“I’m gonna die here” thought Naren, when he heard some noise in the distance. Naren took a look outside and found Anand running towards him.

“God, I’m gonna live”, thought Naren. “Sir, are you okay?” Anand yelled nearing the vehicle “Yeah, Anand, thanks for coming, please take me out of this car” Naren said reaching his hand towards the window to find Anand’s hand.

Anand bent down to see Naren who was lending his hand. Anand smiled at Naren, took a pistol from his pocket and shot Naren twice…
