I've Just Seen Perfection
I've just seen perfection
I don't know her name
All things being equal
We may never meet again
But I thought perhaps she liked me
Although we never spoke
Keep unavoidably imagining
Her with another bloke
I'll arrange to be around her
So she can see my skills
Silliness and sounder
See how she gets her thrills
That half-glance had it meaning?
A secret message left?
I'm at the mirror preening
She's guilty of my hearts theft
She once said See you later
Is that exactly what she meant?
I'd be her sun-tanned waiter
Follow everywhere she went
But not like the despised lap-dog
I have my pride and a half-life
I just want to be a major cog
In the machinery of her life
When she speaks my senses tremble
Even when she's ordering pizza
The natural tone and timbre
Makes we want to seize her
And shower her in compliments
Her tone, her looks, her stature
Her porcelain perfection
In a quilted box I'd stash her
And keep her perfect always
Exquisite both heard and seen
You may look but never touch
My captive beauty queen
But my love is unrequited
She sees me not at all
Perhaps despite my position and size
I remain too small
To figure in her future world
To orbit the mother planet
Passed unnoticed once again
Attention seeker: I'll have to plan it
Faint heart never won amour
So I'll compose a lover's rhyme
And slip it under her front door
And sweat the passing time
Until our eyes next met
And we both for seconds stood
By the water cooler matchmaker
Her Winslett, my Gielgud
Then the moment passed
As though it had never been
No words passed, no gesture made
I'm as solid as a dream
Now she ignores me still
Why do I feel this way?
I function but my life is hers
I've no part in her passion play
I see her potential mate
The little shit she may wed
What is it he has, I lack?
Pleasant time thinking him dead
And if he passed away
And her spirit hovered free
I'd buy her specs if she'd only see
The other half of her is me.
