The Quest
By Gill Zulu
- 465 reads
The darkness is full of wolves disguised as knights,
Flashing amour, blinding bright.
With sharpened spears and silvered tongues,
To pierce the hearts of maidens young.
They arrive on sweating stallions, Stomping hooves and pounding hearts,
They tether their beasts and dismount,
To perform their seduction arts.
Silvered torsos,
Reflecting the fading sun,
In a halo of light they enter the lair.
They move in packs to temp the maidens fair,
With finest mead and captivating tales of deeds.
They play the dance with rhythmic clicking heals,
And haunt the den with cunning moves.
As ladies swoon to the hero’s grooves.
He’ll hold you with his handsome hands
till dawn slices through,
The hazy light to happily ever after.
You can write him words to bind,
Beg him return,
Go crazy in the mind
Hold his memories as precious
As the salt scented handkerchief he left behind.
But just be grateful for the thrill
And know that lust has an after chill.
For knights have their dragons to kill,
Battles to win,
Quests to fulfill.
Like the wolf he needs a vast forest to roam,
Not the walls and comfy quilts of home.
Only to the falcon
Will he remain faithful.
So, be warrior strong,
Smile and wave him on,
Immortalize him in a melancholy song.
I’ve no doubt your love is true,
But there’s no Cinderella shoe,
He’s only passing through my friend,
He’s only passing through.
