What Next Library?
I shut myself off for the summer
to read the books I'd never read,
three months worth of words
spinning and twisting inside my head
The books passed down by my dead uncle,
a rotting legacy of classics and trash;
I took on each gladly, reserving judgement
to gain a knowledge of the past.
But what are words?
What's their value to man?
Good books are worth as little as bad,
even less selling second hand.
I devoured them all and looked around
searching for others, for more to read;
A silent realisation dawned on me:
that I can scan but I still need.
