To devise a lexicon of desire
(as an architect assembles lines) I'll
lego this literary edifice
brick by plastic brick, word by injured word
but its just no use.
I'm no artisan
(no superman, no radiation man)
I'm somebody's thick tongued mumbler, a two
bit mutterer, a no good stumbler who
knows its just no use.
I'm a child, forever
one grey cog short of a helicopter,
scrambling uselessly for that missing piece
I know is long gone - with conjurer's ease.
All this to describe a most handsome pledge;
Moments snagged at morning's watery edge.
