I cannot think that death will make a claim
Nor wind and snow will put you off your game
A steady round though hail will make it hard
We all know that in life you went that extra yard
Caerphilly guards your ghost Jack Hughes
And friends still talk about you in the pews
Good fortune speeds your round along its way
And in Gods house your game is Medal Play
The saints around you marvel at your score
Your round will be immortalised for ever more
And he who guides and keeps you in his sight
As you walk Caerphilly's hills in his bright light
You played the course and at the eighteenth hole
We ask that everlasting golf consign your soul
Jack, my dear friend of forty years died recently.
We really lost him six years ago when he slipped into his own world away from us as dementia took hold of his mind.
I would sit and listen to Jack as he asked who are you many times. Patiently I would answer and then listen as Jack rambled on in his own sweet way.
A very good golfer and you would find him in church every Sunday.
This is my tribute to my friend Jack. I miss him so much.

It's nice to hear of your
It's nice to hear of your sitting with your friend during his inability to make words make sense.
I hope he is where the scenery is even better than those lovely Caerphilly hills, and finding that occupation that is even better than his golf delights! Rhiannon
