Winter

Summer long gone,
Autumn's ended,
and now, Winter is here.
The harsh winds blow,
while my world is frozen and frosted overnight,
with water turned, as if nature commands,
“Bring me ice”
As I open the curtains,
I see this new world,
and I hear my mind saying,
“you know nothing”
And it’s right,
that’s what scares me the most.
Walking through the white land I feel eyes upon me,
And to my surprise I see a man made of ice watching,
His dark, cold eyes staring, and arms waving as I pass.
But that's the last of my fears.
As if by magic my feet go numb and glow with pain,
It feels like tiny swords from darkness have stabbed me.
The pain grows and heads to my hands and head.
But these three victories doesn't make Winter the victor,
And I run from place to place, weaving through trees,
jumping over hedges and ducking under branches.
Until I'm finally inside, safe from the colds grasp,
and close to the warm fire.
Now I know Winter will be over soon,
And Spring is just around the corner.
However deep inside I know the heat cannot last,
the cold will return and the rivers will freeze because
Winter is coming…

Last winter was so long I'm not sure I want to be reminded of the next one coming. Nice exploration of the changing landscape - well done
