Beneath Skin

The skin on her lips was painted red
Her pout inspired by Marylin Monroe,
She wanted to hide that scared girl beneath skin.
II
But I am human
Of flesh and blood
that bleed and hurt.
III
His hair is dark like molasses
and probably soft to touch
My fingers linger with the sensation of hair I never felt.
IV
Trying too hard
To fit in
But I am not the right shape in that puzzle.
V
Sitting on a damp soft cloud.
O look down and realize
I'm afraid of heights.
VI
A wave of betrayal washes over
the shore that is me. Although
Not beautiful as the ocean, yet Bruital.
