American Eclipse

We were East of the Darkness line and we didn't have glasses, so I was less excited than I should have been. Lynn was at the store shopping when cosmic, comic gears started to click. I read a FB post from brother Genesee Johnny. Johnny advised that I start playing the "Dark Side of the Moon" album at 2:38 and 30 seconds. Hmmmm.
Lynn got back from the store at 2:10. She went outside to water the plants at the same time that our across the street neighbor Kim was checking her mail. Kim is a kindhearted woman of color and of faith. She thinks we're nice old people and "watches" out for us while including us in her prayers. Lynn asked Kim if she was excited about the eclipse and Kim always grateful for God and his wonders said that she "sure was". Kim asked Lynn the same question and Lynn said that we didn't have any glasses but she had heard that if we used a collender, we could safely look through that. Kim seemed concerned. She advised us not to do that for fer of Biblical blindness. She walked into her home and returned with an extra pair of eclipse shades which she handed to Lynn with a "God bless y'all" thrown in for good measure.
By this time it was 2:28. We had the glasses and there was no excuse. Maybe it wasn't going to be 100% but the sky was clear, cloudless and very blue; a beautiful Carolina afternoon. I explained John's advice. We set up our speakers for the patio. I thought we were getting ready for a big thing. Lynn thinks I'm always getting ready for a big thing and that I have a propensity, like many males, to make a big thing out of nothing.
We pushed play
As we made it through "Money," I could see that it was gonna be close. I suggested that I make a video of Lynn looking at the eclipse. She didn't like the idea. Her hair wasn't exactly right. My hair is never exactly right so I said okay You take the video. We went outside.
The speakers were working. Lynn directed me into position. I still hadn't looked up at the sky. Just before Roger started singing that "the sun was eclipsed by the moon " I put on my glasses fumblingly and took a look. The sky was still bright blue but with the glasses on the eclipse was happening and it was stunning. I started moving with the music and with the moon and the sun. I forgot about Lynn and the camera until Roger had reached the end of the song. I moved as if no one was watching. She got it, whatever it was. She handed me the camera and grabbed the glasses and took her look at the eclipse. I took her picture. To me her hair looked perfect.

That's quite a lot, if you
That's quite a lot, if you can see it through proper glasses I guess. Interesting to see. Good of her to give you them.
It wouldn't make the area particularly dark I suppose. Rhiannon
