Somewhere is No One's Business

Could you love me even if
i were someone ugly to behold
if my face was deformed
as a cyclist gone haywire, if
that burning inside of your soul
could evade the coarse
texture of the
highway of love, you would indeed
say that you loved me
but deep inside you feel this shame
or guilt
for having made me so soft
as to be made
as ugly
as spilled pudding.
Our love is a way beyond all love,
and you show me off
as if i were in show and tell,
aren't i amusing,
a toy,
a professor of desire
admired amdired
more to the core
than of sight.
Once you lit the soul'd candle,
made me mute with admiration,
do you show and tell
to hide your guilt, hide your
hate
of my hairless body,
of betrayal, of knowing
that so many people you've lost
on shores of dead seas,
could you hate me all the same,
take my breath and life away,
then love another,
mourning only for one day?
