Validation of Love

What validation of love would satiate your soul,
what breath of dragon's fire, what bold stretch of mind,
wouldst thou ne'er be content?
That your skin is as beautiful as
the skins of cherries, rubies do
not compare to your lips
nor the finest saris of Iran, what
wave, falling and downing upon the shore
compares to your tresses, locks,
beauteous, most mysterious smile...
that thou are intelligent, that thou
art passionate 'tis true, not even all my thoughts
with all the sacred wings of angelic rebels
could quench your universal mind
and yet methinks, thou considers me
silly above and beyond it all,
you speak of passion and of fire with
all your breath's longing, but what of life
and its great calling,
you speak of mortals as though they were fools,
but what meat does Zeus feast on?
you speak of things marvelous and bedeviling to the mind's
eye and yet,
tell me this, have I not been true in
loving you,
do you not find one giving of
forgiveness in your soul?
I would bestrike all heaven to see all
that thou art,
that thou stands so proudly above me so,
do not speak then
so harshly of me,
nor strike me alive or dead
with your venom.
