Until Now

Until now
I saw only half the world
Until now

How have I never realised?
I was seeing only black and white
And now I see technicolour and it all makes sense

Vision is sharper
Sound is clearer
Colours are brighter

Because of you

All it took
Was one night;
One touch of hands;
One fleeting kiss;

And I awake this morning to find my world is upgraded
To 3-D widescreen digital surround sound

The idea for this poem came to me whilst driving home after a second or
third date with a new boyfriend last August. We had had a wonderful
evening and, after a long bleak patch in my life, suddenly I was happy
again. I started thinking about how different the world around us looks
when we have someone special to share it with. How much more we see
when there is someone there to point things out to.
Incidentally I am getting married to the man in question in September
this year.
