Why are all the other drivers on the road so much worse than me? Why
do you always get caught behind a really slow tractor when you are
already late for work? Why do I always say "Sure, no problem" when I
really mean "Go away and stop bothering me"? Why does my cat always sit
on the exact article in the paper which I am reading at that moment?
Why do fools fall in love? Why does he never call when he says he will?
Why can't the England football team win a few games now and then? Why
does the phone always ring just after you have got into the bath/ sat
down to eat dinner/ closed the front door on your way out? Why do birds
suddenly appear? Why do you never know what you have got till it is
gone? Why don't children come fitted with a volume control? Why does my
mum always make me feel 5 years old again? Why can't you ever get the
last bit of toothpaste out of the tube? Why do I always wake up
alone?
I wrote this outpouring of thoughts in my journal after a particularly
bad day at the end of a particularly bad week in a particularly bad
time of my life. Writing my journal is, for me, a way of divesting
myself of all the problems, emotions and anger that have built up
during a day so I can sleep properly and wake up in the morning ready
to start again. This particular day was definitely a case in point!
