My mentors tell me,
"You're young. You have plenty of time."
I'm afraid that the moment
I wholly believe them
I will be forty-eight
The age of my father as I write this

I'm sorry I lunged drunkenly
at your soft parts
like a scorpion dying in the heat
but think of this:
We know each other better now
