The world changes, as if on a whim,
and I watched and met a singer last week
who sang of such things, of never-ending
love, and of that which recedes, of Time
the Dominator, who pulls all the strings.
You sung a lullaby in your musical Khymer,
which soothed my aching ears after a hard day,
blended a rhythm with Scoddy's guitar,
enchanting, as a star shot over the Phnom Penh
sky, landing slowly as dust, as we all must.
The world changes, as if on a whim,
and you, that same singer, went the way
of that shooting star, to join the nebulae
of passed-on Khymer, true stars are never
forgotten, re-played as the voice of heaven.
