The Story of Juan Miguel - Part III (LIFE IN THE CITY)

After graduation, Miguel was ready to face a new challenge, his survival in the City. No friend to talk with, a stranger in a strange land. When he first landed in the City, all he wanted is to have a job. He is thinking of saving all his money just to have a car as he remember Cristina. He spends the whole day walking in the streets of the City looking for job. He was amazed with busy people walking in the avenue, wearing nice suits and some do not.

One rainy day, he went into a building just for a shelter and unintentionally left his papers to the building receptionist and he went back home. After three days, Miguel was called to start for a job. He worked as an accounting assistant for a firm. Though he hates doing paper works, he was forced to do it because he needs money to pay for his apartment and food to eat.

On his first day of work, a guy approaches him and told Miguel, "Don't trust anyone. Even me. There is no such thing as friends in this office we are working with. Then the guy goes outside the office as Miguel's manager is coming. The manager welcomed Miguel with a smile. But behind a smile, a devilish attitude was inside of her.

Miguel was introduced to other employees working with the firm. The manager pointed at the guy who approaches Miguel. "That's Rey, he worked in this office for about ten years. Look at him, his old enough to operate a computer. The manager showed kindness to Miguel. In return he work harder just to meet all the needs of his manager. He was always enthusiast in doing every job that was assigned to him.

For the second time, Rey approaches Miguel and warned him "This place is not for you. Open your eyes. Good future is waiting for you outside this office. Miguel didn't realize what Rey wants to say. Instead, he continued doing his job the way he started it.

At the end of the quarter, the firm's President gave Miguel's manager recognition. The manager was given an Achiever's award. For the third time Rey approaches Miguel. "Men you don't need to be knowledgeable for you to be recognized. You should be wiser enough to use other's knowledge. Then Rey started telling him his story¦ "I was at your age when I entered this firm. Me and¦  The conversation was put in halt as the manager comes. The manager told Miguel "I need you this next quarter. I'm counting on you. Again the manager showed her smile to Miguel.

Thursday afternoon, before the quarter ends. He heard that the President and the Manager were yelling at each other. The manager yelled at the President "It's not my fault! It's Miguel! It's not me!. Then he suddenly realized what Rey is trying to say. Since then working in that office was a hell out of fire for Miguel. Miguel turned to Rey asking out for an advice. Rey told him "I told you¦ You are still young. Go ahead. Better future is waiting for you outside this hell. Miguel asked Rey "What if I told the President what really happened? Rey replied with a disappointed gesture "He will not listen to you. The two of them are having an affair.

A year passed, Miguel resigned from his job. Patiently, under the scorching heat of the sun, he walked all day in the busy avenue looking for a new endeavor. Fortunately, he found a new job where he met bunch of young individual at his age. Then, he met Risha¦
