An Outcry for Rescue

"Don't use foul or abusive language"
As the children walk to school
Lovingly...caringly guided by their mothers
Suddenly they are stopped
With words of violence that cannot be expressed
By shouts of abuse, darker than the deepest pit
To school you are not going
Not along this way...not if we can help it
The children run into their mothers' arms
Crying...screaming...terrified..in total panick
They do not understand
And as the police guides them through
Their eyes cry out their thoughts
Politics? What is politics?
We just want to go to school
"Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger,
and every form of malice"
They have taken the country by storm
Now they are set to determine the rules
Now they are the law makers
They promise...everything will change
Everything will be wonderful
And they start to send the women home
They start to arrest the 'other than they'
There is no place for them in paradise
In the paradise they are creating
And every Friday they meet in the stadium
Where many of them watch the game
A game where many celebrate and cheer
A game where many more play dead
"Be kind and compassionate to one another...
Live a life of love"
A man drives his car
A woman does so too..overtaking the man
The man is furious, whispering abuse
For him no woman should be allowed
To drive a car at all
To him they are inferior...less of a human being
The woman drives on
A sticker on the back of her car
There for all men to read
"Men better drivers than women?
Oh please, do be serious!"
And she goes on...a smile on her face
She is superior and she laughs
At the inferiority of the other sex
Politics...religion...philosophy,
or just raw power
Mankind invents ways to keep on fighting
Its creativity boundless in possibilities
Countries...races...peoples,
or just different ones
We will find them, or we will create them
So we can put the blame on anybody but ourselves
I fall prostrate...my face red with shame
Oh God...please help!
Oh Jesus....please forgive us
Please, please rescue us
