Breathe

Let go
The rope snaps
And the world pulls me down
To the blue depths
Grinning below.
Splash!
It engulfs
And attempts to swallow and chew.
I push up,
But the water only pushes down.
I try again and again.
But I only fail.
I scream for help
But none can hear.
Water invades my body and soul
And I began to drown.
In the glimmer of disillusionment
The water disappears.
The fresh air of the world again fills me
And I can breathe again.
