Reaching Out
By Jean Calvin
- 510 reads
I reach out
To that tree
The very nature in
Life.
For that is what I need.
I reach out my hand,
To take the breath from the tree.
To touch the essence of
Life.
But all I grab is a leaf.
I reach out
To that dog,
Guided by utmost
Loyalty and respect.
For that is what I need.
I reach out my hand,
To touch the warmth of something that
Loves,
No matter what.
But all I grab is a hair.
I reach out
To you
Correcting my disillusion of
Life.
For that is what I need.
I reach out my hand,
To feel yours.
For it shows me
Care.
But all I grab is a memory.
I reach out
To me,
To discover
Who I am.
For that is what I need.
I reach out my hand,
To feel my heart.
To know what keeps me
Going.
But all I grab is a tear.
