At home

I have just finished my housework with disgust
What keeps me going on this chore
is the thought of those women whose houses are floored
Floored by the bombs that come whistling down
On the houses that they too have cherished as home
Why do I moan!
I have just finished my housework with disgust
What keeps me going on this laborious chore
Is that thought of those women whose houses are floored
Not by the bombs but the earthquake of richter 6.4.
Aimlessly I wonder through my democratic day
On a cold winters night in my warm bed I lay.
I pray to my god “please help me” I say
But not far away are the tears of those mothers
Whose gods have left them with nothing but rubble
They'll not need a duster just get them a shovel!
