Time
Jennifer Pickup, 23.12.2025
Time will not wait,
Does not love or hate,
Shows not neglect or care,
Has no reason to be fair.
Time ebbs and flows,
It moves fast or slow,
Can stretch infinitely,
Has no real affinity.
Time does not hate,
Can’t discriminate,
All of our plans forsakes,
Worries not the hearts it breaks.
Time defies the laws of physics,
Compresses into any space,
Sometimes hours pass in minutes,
And yet some moments last for days…
Years fly by in only seconds,
Turning memories to weapons,
And decades through your fingers flow,
Mercurial, like love and hope…
Time will test you,
Teach you lessons,
Time will break you,
Hear confessions.
Time laughs into the face of facts,
It shows disdain for manmade pacts,
Rips apart all your promises,
Will not forget you or forgive…
Time can’t be caged and won’t be tamed,
It won’t be caught and can’t be blamed,
Can’t comprehend our human pain,
Has nothing to regret or gain…
Time does not heal,
Can only reveal,
Likes to linger and fly,
Not a thing we can defy.
Time cuts the cord,
Leaves the stable door,
Lets all the sand run out,
And ignores the warning shout.
Time will take you,
This I always knew,
It seems deliberate,
And I am not ready yet…
Go tell Time that it is not true.
