A lost love

As the sea birds wheel and cry above me
I feel a breath upon my neck
I look out o'er swells and foaming horses
And feel your heart in mine
The biting wind cuts the tears from eyes
And they fall , fall , fall
I reach out for a hand, for love
For someone to take the pain
On the brink, I stumble in darkness
And clutch at the tenuous thread
A belief so frail and so brittle
A wish , that will never come true
You have left a legacy of nothing
An emptiness, never to fill
I am lost, alone and without
I am lost, without you
