Really, nothing matters. Or everything matters. Or some of it matters. We decide for ourselves, right?
The other day,
the Voyager space probe ambled out of this solar system
and into interstellar space. The furthest we’ve ever reached,
ever touched. And now, says the news,
it’s moving in the space between the stars. The stars.
Meanwhile, your breath
becomes my skin.
Our DNA glitters back into everything else's.
And to it all, I’ve added this:
something in here
given form out here,
words used like iron filings to find its shape. I guess I sometimes call it a piece.
From here,
everything looks small;
and,
sometimes,
very,
very big.
