Seasonal Fruits

My idea of where I came from, was completely influenced by our hindi films. I wasn't completely sure whether my mother knew the procedure of my conception. So one day I went and enlightened her that a woman gave birth to one child when she was twenty five years of age and another when she was forty five, like some sort of seasonal fruit. My mother, being amidst her group of friends at that time, just gave me a lethal look and sushed me away. But I am sure she was embarrassed by her ignorance and did not want to admit it in front of all her friends.
I further rationalized later on in the day, while being locked in my room, that for a baby to be born to a woman at twenty five, it had to start growing inside her stomach when she was five years old.
I was so proud of my self for this wonderful discovery that I shared it with my friends.
The next evening, in the park, I touched all their stomachs one at a time, listened to their heart beats, sort of checked their pulse and told them that each of their babies was a couple of hours old.
One of my friends asked me whether her little brother of three also had a baby inside him? I rubbed my chin and contemplated loudly that he was too young and the baby would only start growing when he was at least a year older.
That day was the most joyous days of our lives, we danced the dance of fertility, and named all our babies who were growing inside us.
