I caught a glimpse
Of her and
She spoke to me.
The doll,
With her pale
Porcelain skin,
Sat up high,
Alone.
On a shelf,
Covered in cobwebs,
Her pretty painted smile,
And glistening
Eyes that
Could almost
Cry
Tears of loneliness.
Her velvet dress
And fur hat
Said she
Had been loved,
But was now
Forgotten.
And I couldn’t leave her there,
Because she reminded me of you,
Suddenly a little lost,
And far away,
And I hoped you had someone
To keep you company.
