Summer Breeze - In loving memory of Mike

Born with a bit of the blarney stone
between your teeth,
the jester in your genes;
you charmed the world with laughter.
Disarmed it with your love of life,
your open hand and forgiving heart
offered to anyone in need.
How poor my past would be without you;
all those times you turned up,
a weekend's partying in your pocket,
asking only my good company.
The shelter and support we shared,
from lads to husbands and fathers,
till life led us along our separate paths.
But even across the furthest distances
In time and space, just the thought of you
alive and laughing somewhere
made me smile on even the darkest day.
The world is diminished by your passing,
life a little emptier of laughter;
the dancing, now not so much fun.
Except in these moments of your return;
With Summer Breeze drowning the MG's motor
down that sunny Sunday lane to Wales,
and on into our bright and brotherly future.
