Mon amie

May I see thee, once more
and speak
of words unsaid,
those sweet French syllables
hath revolved since
in my head.
If I can have valor
and bequeath upon thee
a picture,
painted by my hope
and rapture,
perhaps one moment
can compose
our sempiternal
existence together.
Art thou aware
of thy rarity:
to not be subject
to such air
and vanity;
a beauty of health
and nature humble,
may I tell thee,
before this ocean
that doth divide
clefts my heart
in twain,
'Mon amie,
Je t'aime'.
