When I got back

When I got back, I failed to see
The meaning of what you showed to me
No twinkle stardust in the sky
A sea lapping shores of distant sands
A lighthouse shedding clarity on tussled winds
not knowing where they're heading
A lone house out on a hill
Watching and hearing the seagulls shrill
A clock gives up on the passing hours
No one here to be showered with flowers
Roses fell, but long ago, when time had meaning
and water filled the pretty well.
When I got back, I failed to see
