Raindance Toddler

She danced with an energy that made the whole house come alive, though it was only one small room she occupied, every brick joined in with her laughter, rich warm laughter that stuck to every fibre, that bounced out onto the street below and echoed up from the wet jewel like cobblestones, making her feel as though she was surrounded by a hundred friends. Any number greater than nine felt like at least a hundred to her, and the familiar happy noise finding its way back made it definitely feel at least like a hundred!
The silver of the moon welcomingly crept in through the large open window to investigate the happy scene, enticed by the young girl whose bed time was long forgotten, illuminating her golden curls that danced on plumpish, almost edible cheeks, as the rain danced also, along the window pane. There was a warming glow, though hers was the only light.
Imagining she was running into the magical downpour she screamed with pure joy, evolving to mock terror as she ran away again, yet back she was drawn and then away once more, running from scary but non threatening non existent creatures that may emerge from the beautiful downpour.
As suddenly as the show began, it began to end. Though her eyes still glittered with wonderment and longing to remain in this spot entertaining the moon and her many friends, her body began to wane, her mind remembered it was weary and yearned for the forgotten bed time to be remembered once more, and so the moon knowingly bowed her head as a polite ‘good night,’ her silvery fingers silently leaving the room. The dancing rain drops remembered they had somewhere else to be, there dance turned to a skip and then they were off, to where she did not know, or rather she probably didn’t noticed as she curled, cat like and happy, surrendering to the memories and stories that would unfold as she slept.
Upon that, the window was closed, the curtains drawn. Oh to be lost in a rainstorm!
