The light air of the church excited
From burning candles and incense
Buckling under other more physical smells
Of sweat and breath from bodies
Ingrained with chemical substances
And saturated with carnal pleasures
Becomes incapable of uplifting the prayers
To the heavenly chambers
Whence immaculate saints
Are watching in a haze of disbelief.
