Lover's Paradise

Lover's Paradise
Leaves of grass
Weary in their task.
Breezes whipped and screamed.
Amber in their bask.
Bundled up in snow's blanket
Was winter young.
Autumn and our love, had just begun.
Kisses as light as clouds unseen.
Smiles and golden laughter,
All but a dream.
Hands twined in sweet atomic embrace.
Sunlight glowing against our face.
The cold seeped in through our clothes
Redness climbed up bridges of our nose
Cheeks flushed with drunken brisk
An evening full of tonic whisk.
New Orleans bourbon has never felt such burn
Alcohol in its tank with addicting yearn.
Winds blister, blew and blow -
Cat-o'-nine'tails dancing in a row.
My hand knitted shawl stirred like a flag,
Tan linen suit crumpled into a rag.
Tumbleweeds of marine garbage flew in from the sea
Sprays of water smashed so angrily.
Warm arms full of spirit and old
Wrapped around; bought and sold.
We had found paradise
Within an imperfect day.
Lover's paradise, there to stay.
Hearts in love, vision strong.
Racing in our slow tread
The day that we were wed.
Forever in our song.
