In the evening the sea glowed a war-like red
And the stars blinked back from a darkening sky
The cooling sand stirred beneath my head
While waves caressed me with a lullaby
To the west the land curved and throttled the sea
The cloud-capped rock sternly guarded the ocean
Time stood still at that moment for me
But the minutes and hours were ever in motion
A ruin loomed black in the reddening light
Behind it the dunes were writhing with thistles
I yearned to stay here, to escape from the fight
Where all I could hear were the wind's lonely whistles
This was the place where I wanted to be
But far out to sea my life waited for me
