Do you ever feel like someone’s watching you?

And sometimes you’re on fire.

Mostly life’s going well-ish,

Other times you ice-skated straight into making an ass of yourself.

You try to dance,

If you’re shy,

If you travel

With all your friends

On empty buses,

If you make memories,

If you run off to Portugal to pick oranges from trees,

And dive into situations

that sometimes feel uncomfortable - 

it’s okay.

If you can say hi to squirrels,

If you can sing into a paintbrush or a roller,

If you’ve ever kissed the one that got away,

If you’ve ever watched TV
and not felt like a stuck statue of a monkey
trying to solve a Rubik’s Cube -
(I can do one!)

If you can enjoy music,
and still make your own,
even if you can’t sing,

If you never forget where you came from,
and if you can cheer other people on,
even if they’re bananas,

If you can get together,
even briefly,
and capture the moment -
not every moment -

then your whole life
will live on.

And all that was
will still be,
just closer now, so it looks bigger.
