Away From the Storm

like a pilot
massive plane plodding through the fog
thick grey translucent
wet and cold
he sees a light above the clouds
veers up
climbing in a fight
every movement expends energy
a massive force pushes down
with the weight of the heavens behind it
plane's nose drops
plane plummets
falling scattered
breaking glass cockpit
the pilot pushes away and pulls the chord
falls slowly
parachute expands in soft white color
the ocean looms below like death
stormy torrents of waves
fight with one another in the expansive sea
pushing and falling and flipping over one another
as the pilot descends
