Party at the Edge of Eternity

I followed the yellow brick
porn store strip to nirvana
up the rickety staircase
to the junk shop in the sky
past pink neon signs
and yellow street lights
and bums with bottles of tar

the clerk smiled
a cheshire cat grin
through my grey ash guts
and opened the door
to the lightning party
flashing white strobe lights
of the charring flames of hell

I danced jungle
crazy acrobat feet zips
under the razor disco ball
that fired shrapnel
into my eyes
and stung my soul
with ebony wasps

I fell through clouds
flashing grey lightning
my body enveloped
in the city smog
brown and black
grey death came down
from a black hole in the heavens

my world went black
I lost myself in space
and a voice asked
where I was going
I opened my mouth
my words were sucked
through a multitude of black holes

I closed my eyes
with mud in my skull
and tried to lose my place
I found a tiny light
like a candle flame
grey but hot
and subtle

I opened my eyes
saw grey angels
and black and pink dancers
the angels ignored me
the dancers attacked me
so I ran
tripped and fell

head over heels
plummeting to the ground
grey concrete
with iron spikes
put my hands in front of my face
opened my eyes and I was standing

I saw the rickety staircase
shook my head
walked around it
into the concrete jungle
dark grey trees of buildings
with boarded windows
and locked iron doors

moths were fluttering
in my paper stomach
wasps were stinging
my oatmeal brain
I lied in the street
under a brown blanket
of sandpaper

I closed my eyes
but couldn't sleep
the circus police
were playing hopscotch
on tambourines and cymbals
while the death dealers
fired poison darts
I stood and walked
down a picnic road
where bums were eating locusts
and yuppies were strolling
wearing plastic rain coats
with stone umbrellas
as it rained humility and peace

I took a left
on lonely avenue
walked past the boarded buildings
and paper tumbleweeds
looking for nothing
and I found it
in a woman who caressed my pride

contentment surrounded me
like a shadow army
disguised as allies
against night and day
now I'm trying to escape
from the eternity dungeon
where challenge rusts
beneath silver dust
