View From a Yellow Box

all of the walls are yellow
white changed by soft incandescent light
I sit on a creaky brown chair
hitting plastic with fingertips
brown, green, and yellow stripe my eyes
all the furniture seems to be earth toned
thunder shakes the world
as I stare through the beige jail cell
balcony fence
I see the window doors
bumble bees often thud into them
zipping about above the brown ground
trees fill the view
grey trunks and vivid yellow green leaves
spotted with grey sky
and the thunder shakes the world
as a breeze floats through the screen door
scattered raindrops fall
then the storm attacks full force
dropping a savage assault of water on the ground
drips tapping leaves
I hear them clearly through the screen
I can't go anywhere
I have to just sit here and stare out the window
of this yellow box
all of the colors of nature
so vivid in the rainstorm
as I sit
trying to think of something to write
