For You

When the dust of worry spreads a thin layer
of gray across your bedroom floor,
I’ll be there to sweep
until my feet get tired and my back aches.
I’ll fight the weariness
like a seagull fighting a gale.
And when the world gets heavy on your shoulders
and your back begins to give under the weight,
I’ll be there struggling with you
until my bones crack and my joints start to give.
I’ll struggle through the pain and heartache
like a fish swimming against the tide.
And when chaos reigns and green becomes red
and your head is inflated with anger and fear,
I’ll be there pointing towards God,
who can make your burdens light
with the knowledge that everything is temporary
like sand dunes dispersed in the wind.
